Leaves and Chickens and Pumpkins, OH MY!!

Well, it's that time of year again.. you know the time I mean, pumpkin and leaf time! This time of year we always steal all the neighbours leaves and jack o lanterns and pile them up on the garden to compost for next year's garden. The kids love it because they get a huge leaf pile for jumping in and tens of pumpkins for smashing.
The new thing this fall is that we have pet chickens. The four hens joined us in the spring and have been well loved family pets ever since. We get about 3-4 eggs a day from them and they are more than happy to take care of any leftovers we have laying around and helping out with turning the compost pile. This is a job they are so dedicated to that one of them will peck my pants leg until I remember that I haven't turned the pile yet today. She wants her worms! We are hoping to pass a bylaw in town soon so that we can let them have a coop in the back yard, but for now they sleep in a dog kennel in the back room and spend their days either wandering the yard or in the kennel if the weather is bad.
We have been spending a lot of time at Morningstar Mill lately, as there is a much bigger yard there for the kids to run around in and we all enjoy it immensely. So I have some video's to share with you from the last couple weeks. I hope you enjoy.
