My Journal Assignment for nov 23

What I would say if I had the courage to say it…. Quit trying to impose your values on my life! My life experiences have shaped my values, and yours have shaped yours. If I keep trying to live up to your values I'm going to regret the way I've lived my life. I don't want to get to heaven rich. I don't want to lie on my deathbed wishing I had spent more time with my children. I don't want to die lonely. I really don't care if I make "enough" money, as long as I have time with my family and enough to eat. I don't care that your opinions don't mesh with mine, and I wish you would quit trying to make me see things your way. I saw thing that way before, other things I've seen have changed my mind. I wish you would quit trying to involve me in your fights. Don't try to turn me again anyone else. I don't want to be in the middle of it. SHUT UP! I don't want all your negative thoughts swirling around in my head! I don...

Random memories from my childhood.

I remember playing in the snow near grandma's apartment building with Angela and Jenn. Collecting cattails and pretending we were going to cook them. I remember going to Toronto Island (I think) with mom and dad and their friends. We took the ferry and dad's friend and dad pushed me on the swings. It was fun. I remember learning to make scrambled eggs and how Jenn and I would make up 'smiley face restaurant' and cook breakfast for everyone from our huge menu of scrambled eggs and orange juice. I remember tripping and losing my tooth on Grandpa's belt. I wonder where that tooth went. I remember riding the riding lawnmower with dad and Grandpa. I remember building a playhouse or fort at every house we moved to with dad. I remember that we had to have it all properly built with the studs spaced correctly and the correct slant on the roof so the shingles would work properly. I remember when cabbage patch kids were so popular and mom made ones with us and we sewe...

November 11

Well.. Hi there. It's been a while. So .. I'm back to school, that's good.. Still waiting for Matt to get hired on at his work instead of being just contract work... Worrying about christmas, groceries, and bills.. but what's new.. Every time I think things are bad they just get worse.. so I guess at some point they will HAVE to get better. Tisha has two weeks left of Dance lessons.. which means the boys probably have 2 weeks left of programs too.. Sad for them.. nice for me.. I can't wait to have my monday and tuesday nights back to quiet, other than swimming lessons of course.. I'm spending a lot of time rethinking exactly what I want to go to college for when I'm done these courses... Nursing sounds cool and I'd make mad cash... BUT.. I'm not sure it's ME.... chef sounds like hellava good time.. but I'm not sure about the pay side of it... and the other really interesting option is horticulture.. BUT.. the horticulture teacher seem...

Hi there! I know it's been a while.. things are busy. I think last time I wrote I was in school in class... Today I'm at home just hanging out with miss Tisha. I dragged out the electric piano from the basement for her to play with and she's very excited about that. So what's happenned since summer started..... Well.. the kids have Y memberships now. Tisha has learned how to swim around like a little fishy with a lifejacket on. Joey is starting to be able to get to the top without one.. and Drew has started leaving me altogether and going off to the deep end to play with his friends. It's amazing how uninteresting parents are to kids that age :) I'm back at work full time.. which sucks.. I would much rather they had taken me back on my old schedule.. but beggars can't be choosers and I'm glad to be employed at all in this stupid economy. I'm taking calls in New England now which is depressing as all get out.. Seems they have a terrible unemploym...

a new fish for Tisha

Last night I went out and took the kids to the pet store to buy a fish for our rain barrel. (It’s really a Rubbermaid bin, but don’t tell it, you might hurt it’s feelings). I had noticed mosquito larvae swimming around in my neighbours and figured that it wouldn’t be long until we had a swarm of mosquitoes to rival any swampside campground. After a long walk we finally arrived at the pet store. We picked out two white and orange goldfish which I insisted we were not going to name as they would likely end up dead in a matter of weeks due to living in a rain barrel. Tisha promptly named them Mickey and Mickle. Mickey and Mickle looked horror stricken when they were placed into the bag at the store. I felt really bad for them as their eyes screamed, “Oh GOD!! This tank is SMALLER than the LAST ONE!!!.” You can imagine their further horror at being sloshed around in the bag on the long walk home, while they sat on Tisha’s lap in the stroller. We insisted that Tisha not shake t...

Back to school

Well.. This is how things are going.. I'm getting laid off June 30. Unless the new program starts up by then in which case I'll be going into training for that new program and not laid off at all. I've come to the conclusion that my employment isn't as stable as I thought it was so I've decided to go back to school. Currently I'm at school playing with Microsoft word. I wonder if this will transfer over at all to my Mac… Apparently I need to know how to work this program for the nursing program J The boys are excited about going to boys and girls club now that it's fun there… (Translation.. they now have more video games) Tisha is excited about daycare.. but we are still waiting for her placement to come up. They say they can get her into the daycare center for June 22 and until then she gets to go to her favourite Auntie Rachel's house! YAY! May have some news on Matt by later today.. will keep you posted on that J

a kudo's comic!

I just wanted to share this as it's probably the coolest thing to ever happen to me at work :) I went for my yearly review and this was handed to me.. apparently I made the customer so happy that she felt inspired to draw a comic to let the roger's world know all about it :) For the first time I feel validated at work.. like I'm actually making a difference and people notice my effort. :) happy day!

Tisha reading???

Ok.. so just throwing this out there cuz the kid is freaking me out just a bit... Every once in a while she comes up with a word.. that is written somewhere... that no one told her what it says. example.. Walking through the penn center (haven't been there in about a year) and she points at the baby gap sign and says "Baybee GAP" which is odd cuz she doesn't exactly wear a ton of baby gap being baby # 3 in this house... another example.. going through the grocery store and going to the deli for the first time in her life she points up at the deli sign and says "Dehlee" and yesterday she says she wants to watch TREES so we turn on the tv guide on the tv... and notice that treehouse is labelled treehs... and as we are noticing that she yells out THOMAS!! and sure enough what is listed on TREEHS is Thomas and friends.. and we haven't changed the channel yet so there's not really any way for her to have known that without reading it. I am in so ...

so.. events of this week... We found a really cool bed for Tisha on the side of the road.. total cost for bed was under 8$ for replacement screws to make it safe... and She got some really nice new big girl blankets with her christmas money from papa. She's pretty thrilled with that. Drew has managed to lose his coat.. hopefully it turns up soon. It went missing on monday at scouts and we couldn't find it for him to wear it home.... god I hope I don't have to buy him another coat. We got the tree and christmas village all set up.. that was a fun night.. and I finally found a word whammer on sale cheap.. . and go figure my kids.. being boys.. the first word they spelled with it was POOPY
So today has been a pretty awesome day. This morning Alun called and told me he was on the way over with my (new to me) old sewing machine :) It's an old 1930's Singer Treddle machine.. something that's been on my wishlist for a long time... as well as a folding cutting table and also brought some really cool fabric that I may just make a slip cover for my couch with :) After I got up and dressed and all and felt pretty happy already about the sewing machine we went to Thanksgiving dinner at Matt's uncle's house in the states. While there I got into a conversation about the canning we do.. also baking, sewing, knitting etc.. and I was asked if I use a strainer or if I do all that canning of tomatoes by hand.. (50 or 60 jars per year of tomato sauce) and I said that as much as I had wanted one of those really nice strainers they were out of my range so I'd have to stick with doing it by hand. Well as I was getting ready to leave I was presented with an old Sq...
Just popping in to say hi. I haven't taken many pictures lately as my camera's batteries have been dead and I'm just too lazy to charge them.. Just sitting down to some homemade pizza for dinner. I admit it's a bit overcooked.. so crispy.. but not burnt! I've been spending a lot of my spare time trying to get the house more organized. Right down to inventorying my cupboards and making up menu plans for two weeks at a time. I expect this will save us a LOT on our grocery bill as there should end up being a LOT less waste. Plus it's making it so much less stressful knowing what is for dinner every night and what time I should start cooking at to make sure it's done before the kids activities start. The kids boy scout spaghetti dinner was a blast and we ended up with a door prize even though we didn't win it we were lucky enough to have it given to us. So now I have christmas decorations for the christmas dinner I don't think I'll have to mak...

so my little drew is my new personal chef.. what a great kid.. I was so tired one day so he offered to cook for me.. apparently one of the wonderful skillz they teach at scouts... and I figured out a recipe for making peanut brittle in the microwave..! totally cool! and easy!! and mmmmmmmm Tisha has been to her first halloween party this year.. dressed up as tinkerbell. the costume lasted about maybe half an hour.. then it was " OFF!!! OFF!!!" and that was the end of that.. we'll see how trick or treating goes tomorrow. anyone who knows my girlie knows that her favorite animals are ponies and crocodiles... We were lucky enough to find crocodile slippers at value village the other day! how cool is that? Joey decided he was joining gymnastics today too so after that the boys and I carved our pumpkins tonight.. we decided to do one classic kid designed white one.. one skull.. one with a stem for a nose.. and one puking.. (puke will be added later when he is outside)

Merry Halloween

So today we made a haunted gingerbread house. A friend of mine brought over the kit for the kids and I to put together... and I must say this is the COOLEST gingerbread house we've EVER made! and here's some pictures of Tisha being a little Diva.. stealing my perfume and stealing my hairspray..

So I decided this year that instead of spending 38$ each on the kids for school pictures that I don't really like and still having to take Tisha out to get photo's done too I would see if my friend Shane could do the kids portraits for me.. and am I ever glad I did. He runs Reed Photography and this was the BEST portrait experience we've EVER had. He was so good with the kids and just let them be their silly selves and Drew has decided that this is how he wants pictures done from now on and that we should never go back to studio shots because this was way more fun. Granted I did not get any copies for anyone else.. but hey.. these are for ME.. lol if you want copies you can talk to Shane and see about pricing to get your own if you want them.. considering barely anyone hangs the kids pics up anyways I didn't see any point in spending that much for something to put in someone else's drawer. Anyways.. I strongly recommend Shane if any of you guys need pictures d...

an awesome day out with the kids.

So I had planned to surprise the kids today with a visit to the seaway serpentarium, which was cool enough all by itself. Before we got a chance to get out the door or even out of our pajamas one of the neighbours/friends from around the corner rang our doorbell and gave us 4 free tickets to howell's pumpkin farm and 4 coupons for free hot drinks too.. (only good today!) So I finished cooking up my caramel corn that was the main thing on the morning agenda (OMG IT IS SOOOO GOOD) and got the kids into the car so we could go out and get matt a new outfit or two as he needs new clothes. If you don't know why hopefully you will in a few weeks! (things could be looking up.. Waaaaay up..) Then I abducted one of Drew and Joe's best friends Zack and we headed off to the pumpkin farm! Man I love that place. If you've never been and you have kids you REALLY have to go. There are animated chicken shows, skeleton shows, dancing singing frogs, rubber duck races, pig races, ...
